Getting Jill & Drew Back Above Water
Donation protected
Six years ago, my friend David Twietmeyer and I started messaging about our friends who were having a real hard time...again. We talked about how much they'd been through and tried to find ways to support them, even if just in spirit. But our friends Jill & Drew have continued to take hit after hit - and are barely keeping afloat with all the hits they've taken to their family and finances.
If asked to consider a family or person who had impacted our lives positively, shown care when we needed it most, supported us through our hard times, stepped into the gap for us, walked alongside us while we grieved or healed, and showed up consistently even when we least expected it, coached us, mentored us, befriended us, loved us well - we would name one or all of the beautiful humans in the Krah family.
Though they would never complain or ask for help, if you know the Krahs - you know that this family of resilient survivors have been through hell and back over, and over ,again throughout the years. From Maya’s open-heart surgery shortly after her birth, to John’s horrific motorcycle accident that left him with nearly every bone in his body broken & in Jill’s care for near half a year while he healed. Around the same time, Drew’s father fell ill and has been living with the Krah’s for his end of life care - which has been both an emotional and financial burden no family is ever ready for, but they’ve shown up every step of the way. If all that wasn’t enough, the Krahs have experienced unfathomable tragedy leading to years and years of ever growing legal fees, unexpected travel, caregivers fees, and more. On top of that, there are the everyday things that would be hard for any of us financially - like a whole dang septic tank needing to be replaced, but instead of replacing it - having to lean on friends for a place to do laundry because something as big as a septic tank can’t be prioritized financially in the face of everything else. It’s enough straw to break a camel’s back.
You can imagine some days for the Krahs it just feels like catching up and keeping up are pipe dreams. How could any of us thrive when there is so much to survive?
If you’re reading this - it is because you’re one of many people who could help return all the love and care we’ve benefitted from these many years back to this family we love so much - and y’all, as you have read they truly need & deserve our help. No family should have to lean so heavily into resilience, and no family should have to work through years of compacted struggle alone. While many of us have stepped in to show care, in big ways and small, it’s time for us to come together as a community and unite in tangible ways when our dear friends need us most.
Although love and support can be expressed in many ways - every single warm thought of encouragement as they tarry through these trials is welcomed - our friends really specifically need our financial support. If we can donate here via this GoFundMe to meet their basic financial needs, take care of the long term bills that have stacked up - we will empower them to be able to afford the other things too big to fundraise for. They need this help if they are going to have a chance to heal, destress, to get their heads above water after drowning it it all for too long and relieve these burdens in any meaningful way.
Will you join us in showing them support with a donation of any size - every dollar counts when the need is great, and if we come together we can meet those needs in the ways that matter.
Thank YOU in advance for joining us in supporting our friends, Jill & Drew and their family, from two people with big hearts who sincerely hope you'll join us in supporting these dear humans in their time of greatest need -
David Twietmeyer & Jess Warren
Ps. David wanted to share this Bible Verse that resonates with his heart for our friends with the hope it would resonate with you too: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, nor give up on coming together, but encouraging one another- and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
