Hi there,
My name is Nathan, and I'm on a journey back to the powerlifting stage after overcoming tremendous health challenges. Powerlifting has been my passion for years, fueled by the thrill of continual improvement and the joy of pushing my limits.
I've had the privilege of representing Australia at several World Championships, setting records, and winning national titles. However, my journey took an unexpected turn when I faced the daunting challenge of surviving not one but five strokes. These health setbacks left me questioning if I would ever return to the sport I love.
But resilience runs deep, and I refuse to let my health challenges define me. Despite undergoing two joint replacements and navigating the complexities of brain injury, I found the strength to push forward. Drawing on the discipline and commitment instilled by powerlifting, I focused on being a little bit better every day.
Recently, witnessing the resurgence of the Australian Powerlifting Alliance and their participation in the IPF World Bench Press championships in Austin, Texas, reignited my passion for the sport. It's inspired me to make my comeback and contribute to the community that has given me so much over the years.
As I prepare to sit my international referees exam, I'm seeking to compete and support and mentor fellow lifters. My experience as an athlete and a referee equips me with unique insights and empathy to guide others on their powerlifting journey.
But I can't do this alone. I'm reaching out for your support to help cover the costs of flights and accommodation for the IPF World Bench Press championships. Your contribution will help me pursue my dream and facilitate the growth of powerlifting in Australia. With your help, we can bring international competitions to our shores and inspire the next generation of lifters.
Thank you for being a part of my journey and believing in the power of resilience and community.
All funds raised will go directly to covering airfares to Austin, TX and back, plus accommodation for the duration of the championships.
Warm regards,
Nathan
