GET ASH TO FRANCE
Donazione protetta
Our amazing Panther sophomore Ashley Valladares, has been accepted to The Council on International Educational Exchange Study Abroad Program (CIEE) for the French Language & Culture program this summer! She applied for a financial scholarship that granted her 4k in scholarship money towards her tuition and rooming. Unfortunately, that does not cover her plane ticket, down payment and other expenses.
Most kids in East Oakland never leave the radius of their neighborhood, they live in a bubble going from home to school and back. Exposing Ash to the possibilities beyond the 510 area code is crucial to her personal development. Ashley is a first generation student on the path to graduate from HS and go to college. She aspires to become an educator in her community one day, for her to experience a trip like this in her early development can shape the way that she sees the world.
Please help us raise the money for Ashley to obtain her dream of studying in France, anything that you are able to donate will help lower the cost for her parents who are hardworking and are committed to give Ash all that she deserves. Your contribution is an investment in humanity as we know she will bring back all that she learns to enhance her life, her family, and her community.
" I am from East Oakland. Which is a place that doesn't have a lot of opportunities to offer. I’m also a person of color and I know that I will have to fight twice as hard than some other people. Additionally, because I grew up in East Oakland I also grew up in a little bubble, I never realized how big the world is until I heard of this program. I originally thought that the only time and place I’ll see different parts of the world and different cultures would be through a screen or a fantasy. I haven't even been on a plane! So the idea of me going to a whole different country across the world is nearly unfathomable. I am beyond grateful for any contributions in helping me finance my trip, thank you."
