Hi my name is Holly and I'm Gerry's daughter.

Gerry was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer in 2019 which he fought and was in remission. Shortly after remission in 2020, we all noticed Gerry's speech was altered and it was hard for him to communicate. After numerous tests, doctors, and diagnoses, he was diagnosed with ALS.

In the past year, Gerry has lost all ability to communicate verbally, is on a feeding tube, and is confined to his wheelchair 95% of the time. He requires 24/7 care, which right now is being done by his loving wife, but eventually will need in home professional care which is not covered under insurance.

During this time, my mom lost her job and was forced into early retirement. She has been the sole caretaker for my dad and has taken a toll on them financially. Since insurance doesn't cover 100% of the costs, the medical bills are piling up. Being on a fixed income and relying solely on their retirement to ensure dad gets the care he needs, the medical debt is crippling the family.

I am looking to raise $100,000 to help so that my mom doesn't have to spend her entire retirement on medical debt and bills. This money will go directly to my mother to be used for dad's care during his ALS battle, and whatever is left over will be donated to another ALS family that is in need of extra help.
