Jeremiah Agito Samson was born on April 2, 2018, to Marizen and Jeren, and we, like many other parents, loved him before we knew him and would sacrifice the world for his well-being. When Jeremiah was born, he was immediately placed in the neonatal intensive care unit. Though weighing 11 pounds, he came into this world with unstable blood sugar levels, underdeveloped lungs, and an infection caused by meconium during fetal distress. His condition then worsened with complications from pulmonary edema/ hypertension and unstable blood pressure, and he was intubated to meet the respiratory needs of his size while receiving constant lab draws to check his levels.
On April 4, Jeremiah was transferred to the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, where he was placed on life support through an emergency veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a lifesaving treatments in patients with cardiogenic shock or cardiac arrest caused by massive pulmonary embolism. We were by his side every day around the clock, continue to pray for Jeremiah, read books to him, and tell him about his two big sisters, Maelaya and Jeramie, who are anxiously waiting to meet him. On
April 9, Jeremiah was weaned off the ECMO machine and decannulated (removed). However, his continued care is costing upwards of $500.00 a day for the care that he needs. Along with the journey ahead with follow up care and physical therapy.
Jeremiah is a fighter, and he deserves the chance to keep fighting. Please help us provide that chance for our newborn son. Any contribution, however minimal, will alleviate some of our struggles.
We GREATLY appreciate the response we received from friends and family to the need of blood donors, which helped Jeremiah tremendously throughout this whole ordeal.
We are all incredibly appreciative of your prayers, love, and thoughts during this difficult time. Thank you, may God bless you always. .
