Coming together when needed-Matthew Allwood Spinal injury
Donation protected
Hi All
Almost two weeks ago, the unthinkable happened. While playing in his first rugby league game in over three years, Matt Allwood — a proud husband, father, brother, and friend — suffered a devastating spinal injury while making a courageous try-saving tackle. What should have been a joyful return to the field turned into every family’s worst nightmare.
Matt underwent a traumatic 9-hour spinal surgery, and while the operation was successful, he remains in significant pain and faces a long, uncertain road to recovery.
Anyone who knows Matt knows he’s the kindest, most genuine person — strong, funny, and always putting others first. He’s a devoted family man who doesn’t deserve the ordeal he’s now facing, but we know he will fight with everything he has to heal and return to the life he loves.
As Matt is currently unable to work and faces an extended period of rehabilitation, the financial burden on his young family is growing. This GoFundMe has been created to help ease that pressure, while Matt focuses on his recovery.
We ask our wider community, friends, and anyone who feels moved by Matt’s story to please donate if you can. No amount is too small, and every contribution will make a real difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page or sending your love and positive thoughts is just as meaningful.
Thank you for supporting Matt and his family as they face the hardest chapter of their lives. With your help, we know he can get back on his feet — in every sense of the word. ♥️
