Hi! My name is Sahara Clement, and I'm graduating cum laude from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, PA this May. I am an English major and I’m hoping to start a career in writing and publishing. Graduating from Bryn Mawr is the culmination of a lot of hard work and personal and financial sacrifice on my part and that of my family. It hasn’t been easy with my family’s difficult financial situation, but without their help, I might not be in the position I’m in today.
I’ve been blessed to have been accepted to the highly regarded Columbia Publishing Course in New York City which is a six week intensive publishing course at the Columbia University School of Journalism. I'm hoping to raise enough money to be able to participate in this program. The program offers classes in web, magazine, and book publishing that are taught by some of the top publishing professionals in the country. It's an honor to have gained admission into this prestigious program as they only accept about 25% of those who apply from all over the world. Attending the Columbia Publishing Course would be such a great opportunity for me because it prepares students for the job market, fosters vital connections, has an excellent job placement rate, and enhances my chances at the success that I believe me and my family have earned. Although I am a student working two jobs, my family is finding it challenging to attain the $8,000 tuition in just two short months, and since this is viewed as a post graduate enhancement course, it only offers minimal financial aid.
