Jahaziel’s Medical Treatments

This is us, The Kuilan-Rios Family. We are from Puerto Rico and we moved to Northern Virginia in the summer of 2015. We moved to this state to give our family better opportunities, but also to give our oldest son a better way of life. Jahaziel, 12yo, since he was a year old, he started suffering constipation problems, that within the past few years his problem has increased drastically. Since he’s been dealing with this problem over 10 years, his intestine is all stretched because of all the accumulation of stool inside of him due to not be able to go to the bathroom for weeks. This has also caused the sphincter of the anus, which is the muscle that causes the sensation of evacuation, to be totally atrophied. After several interventions, he has been diagnosed with a Motility Disorder. On August 20th, 2019 he went on surgery for a Cecostomy Tube. This procedure placed a tube in his belly that connects to his intestine so he can receive daily a medication through it. Doctors said that he has to be with this tube for at least a year to see how much his intestine gets shortened and then go back for a second surgery to reconstruct it (his intestine).
