Fundraising for Children's Holiday Venture

Children’s Holiday Venture (CHV) is a volunteering society run by students from the University of Edinburgh. We began in 1963 and aim to provide a safe, supportive and fun environment for the children and young people we work with! Our mission is to see each child be unlimited by their socio-economic background and feel confident to reach their full potential, whatever that may be.

Our dedicated team of student volunteers and drivers take children to fun activities that include swimming, trampolining, bowling, movie nights and more! We are always striving to deliver even more fun activities and rely solely on charitable donations from grants and fundraisers to do this.

We work with approximately 130 children between the ages of 8-17. We work in 3 main catchment areas: Niddrie, Pilton, and Sighthill. These are areas noted as having higher levels of unemployment, poorer housing and fewer recreational facilities than the Edinburgh average (OPCS 2001). The children are referred to us by teachers, social workers , and GP's who feel that CHV can enhance the child’s development in some way.

By giving just a few pounds you will be aiding us in funding exciting and esteem-building activities for the children.

£5: funds one night out for one child

£20: buys a week’s worth of healthy snacks and drinks for all children

£35: will pay for a semester’s worth of activities for a child

£60: funds a whole group’s activity evening

£120: pays for a child’s space at a three day residential camp

£150: funds a whole group’s day trip (12 children)
