Fundraiser for Kim Kapala

Most of you may be unaware that Kim Kapala has just undergone surgery for removal of a Stage 3 Oligodendroglioma malignant brain tumor.

 

At the end of September, Kimmy had a terrible fall in which she hit her head and severely injured her ankle. She was rushed to the hospital where a CT scan showed a large mass in her brain and was immediately seen by a neuro oncologist at MGH. Kim was scheduled for surgery to remove the mass immediately. In addition to the brain surgery, she also found out that she ruptured her Achilles tendon which required surgery to repair the damage. Kim will be in a cast for 3 months unable to walk or drive.

 

Her cancer treatment begins in 4 weeks. She will require 6 weeks of daily radiation followed by 3 rounds of chemotherapy. She will be unable to work for an undetermined amount of time. She will also have numerous medical and personal bills that she will need help with.
