Story

Hi, I'm Rebecca! I'm a disabled, nontraditional graduate student enrolled in two concurrent master's programs. After raising a kid as a single mom, I enrolled in the MSW program at UALR with a goal of helping to make the world a better place for people who struggle. With one year left in my social work program, I was offered a scholarship to attend the Clinton School of Public Service, an amazing opportunity to strengthen my skills in the areas of research, program planning and evaluation, communications, and global development. Now in my 50s with a graduation date of spring 2026, as part of my program at the Clinton School, I will complete a 2-month international public service project at Setpoint London East. This educational charity serves over 7,500 schoolchildren a year and is located at the Soanes Centre in the historical Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park in East London. Small organizations like Setpoint provide valuable services, yet often struggle to remain financially viable, so my project aims to support them as they work to strengthen sustainable practices. My scholarship includes a travel stipend for my project, but it is not enough to cover my expenses for May-July. I will be working full-time without pay both at home and abroad and am asking for help to cover rent, utilities, dog care, and medical expenses at home, as well as food and incidental expenses while abroad.
