WELCOME BACK FUEL THE FRONTLINE SAN DIEGO!

We are so excited to announce Fuel The Frontline San Diego (FFSD) is back in full swing! So what happened since we launched FFSD back in April 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic?
FFSD raised almost $100,000 in donations for our local Del Mar restaurants to support over 6,500 meals for local frontline medical staff meals at 6 local hospitals.

WHY ARE WE BRINGING IT BACK NOW?

Since our first delivery, it became clear that FFSD does much more than provide meals to hungry medical workers and first responders. FFSD offers hope for small business owners hope that our local community can, and will, fight through these difficult times. FFSD is letting frontline medical workers and first responders know that our community sees their hard work. We recognize how difficult it must be to work in a dangerous environment every day, putting their health at risk in order to save others. FFSD has already made a substantial impact, but our work is not done. Every donation allows us to continue our efforts, expand our reach, grow our program. With everyone’s support, we can fuel the frontline and our first responders, while also fueling the future of our community.

San Diego County’s rate of Covid-19 has continued to increase. San Diego has seen 94,000+ Covid-19 cases and 1,000+ deaths. These numbers continue to dramatically impact our local hospitals. Medical and other frontline professionals are working 16 hours+ a day, with no time to prepare healthy meals to fuel the work they are doing to keep us all safe. These medical heroes place our community’s health and safety above their own wellbeing. They need our support today!

Additionally, with the increase in Covid-19 cases in San Diego County, our restaurants are increasingly severely impacted with limited capacity. Restaurants are desperately trying to stay in business during this pandemic. Masks and social distancing have proven to be the most effective method to control the spread; however, it puts extreme stress on many of our local restaurants that make up our community.

To kick off the resurgence of FFSD, we are excited to announce that Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. identified DMVA’s FFSD as their selected San Diego grant beneficiary. Sierra Nevada has a new philanthropic program centered around the release of Dankful IPA, a new beer launched to help the brewery raise awareness for a variety of nonprofits making an impact during the Covid-19 pandemic.

DMVA is proud to be partnering with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. to bring back Fuel the Frontline San Diego! We are now scheduling more meals with our local Del Mar restaurants for delivery to local hospital frontline medical workers during November-December 2020.

We're all in this together and together we can support our local restaurants and healthcare heroes! Consider a donation or spread the word about FFSD to help us reach our goal!

                                                                                       Our Back Story

At the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Del Mar Village Association  (DMVA) spearheaded Fuel the Frontline San Diego with the help of the Grove Family. Our goal has always been to support our local restaurants during the Covid-19  pandemic while fueling local hospitals and first responders.

The response was simply overwhelming. With a seed grant of $25,000 from Carol and Richard Hertzberg, and generous donations from over 250 in the local community, including, Walter J. & Betty C. Zable, the Del Mar Foundation, Gary & Jerri Ann Jacobs, and Marc & Patty Brutten, we were well on our way to reaching our goal of $100,000. We partnered with over 12 Del Mar restaurants, 6 hospitals, as well as local first responders. We were able to deliver over  4,500 meals completely transcending our original expected impact.

We are now almost to our goal and the resurgence of FFSD is on! Feeling the love San Diego!
