This is my nephew Corey, he went to the Emergency Room and they diagnosed him with pneumonia, Legionnaires' Disease, 24 hours later our lives were turned upside down and he is now fighting for his life. The first few days were the worst, he coded twice, and we though we were going to loose Corey. He is on an Ecmo machine to keep his lungs and heart working , since his body can not do it on its own. They found multiple bacterias and fungus in his lungs and that infection spread to his heart. He is on breathing and feeding tubes, and been in a medically induced coma since December 9th.
We didn't know how much more his body could take while on maximum life support. Corey is fighting and we see that everyday, things are looking to slowly be heading in the right direction , but he will have a long road to recovery, including many more surgeries.
We will keep everyone updated. Corey will need months of physical therapy when he gets better. His mother has not left the hospital in 2 weeks. We spent Corey's 25th birthday (dec. 17th) at the Hospital and will be spending the holidays here too. But that is ok, we will stay here as long as it takes to get him better.
His family needs all the support they can get whether it be in the form of money , prayers or just words of encouragement. Corey's parents and are greatful to all the family, friends, strangers, and especially medical staff for standing by him in his hours of need. They are definetly an amazing medical team, and thier compassion and knowledge is never ending. Many, many Thanks to all !!
