From Florida to Chicago: Help Us Stay Afloat

Donation protected
My wife and I were no longer safe in Florida after Trump’s election in November. I was fortunate enough to transfer my employment to Chicago, a sanctuary city for transgender health care. Unfortunately, we had purchased our home in Florida in 2022 thinking it was going to be our forever. As a result of the economy and soft real estate market, we’ve been unable to sell. We applied for mortgage assistance but were denied. We've also lowered the price of our house multiple times and will not be making a profit from its sale.

Working full-time, going to graduate school, and starting my master's internship next month, I cannot take on a second job. My wife and I have both sold our cars to cut costs, but we are in danger of needing to foreclose on our house. Rent in Chicago is not cheap, and we’ve exhausted all savings and personal loans.

I am humbly asking for any help folks can provide to allow us to cover our mortgage until we can secure a buyer. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Please share with others whom you feel may be able to help. I hope to find myself in a different set of circumstances down the road that will allow me to pay it forward.
