Background and History:
The 11th MEU, Pride of the Pacific, was formally adopted and became a member of the City of Yorba Linda family on December 16, 2014, with the first annual adoption ceremony celebrated on May 16, 2015. At this celebration, Mayor Tom Lindsey said that adopting the 11th MEU had been one of the proudest moments he had experienced while serving as a city official. Col. Matthew Trollinger, 11th MEU Commanding Officer, remarked, “I am confident that adopting the 11th MEU will be a unique treat for the city, as our deployments take us literally around the world and you are, by extension, a part of that journey.” Since this adoption, the City has committed to offer reinforcement that the Marines and their family members need to thrive, whether the unit is deployed or at home.
Every day, the members of the 11th MEU wake up and validate the Marine Corps values of honor, courage and commitment. When we are sleeping, they are the professional warriors protecting us. They are trained to be tough in mind and body. In many cases, they are separated from their families. Let’s show them our gratitude for our freedom and security with a $65 Birthday Ball Sponsorship and a heartwarming “Welcome Home” to Yorba Linda.
