Help us keep the Lyme Billy story alive

This September, Cannington Viaduct is coming alive again — more than 60 years after the last train crossed it.

For one very special weekend, our small Axminster-based charity, For the Love of a Railway, is helping to open this magnificent structure to the public for the first time since the railway closed in 1965.

The event is being provided largely free of charge because we want as many people as possible to enjoy this remarkable piece of our local heritage.

But free events are not free to put on.

If you have enjoyed Cannington Viaduct Revisited, please consider making a donation. Your support will help us meet the costs of the weekend — and, if circumstances allow, we would love to see it become an annual event.

But our work goes much further.

Run entirely by volunteers, For the Love of a Railway uses the story of the old Axminster to Lyme Regis railway to bring people together. We create model railways, films, exhibitions and activities; record and share memories; work with schools and community groups; and help keep an important part of our local heritage alive.

We are also searching for a new permanent home where our models, volunteers and community activities can flourish once again. More on that soon.

We have no shortage of enthusiasm, ideas or volunteers. Your donation — large or small — helps us turn them into reality.
