For our beautiful mum x

Hi everyone,
Our names are Jodie, Jade & Jamie-Leigh and in February 2017 our mum Sharon was diagnosed with stage 1b breast cancer. From the day she received her diagnosis she put on her bravest face and was determined to fight it! She was amazing throughout her journey, she had a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and we got the most amazing news that she had gone into remission.
Mum being mum returned to work almost instantly, to Makro, where she has worked as a nightshift worker shelf stacking for 25 years. She loves her bike and cycles literally everywhere!
On 11th February 2024 mum was rushed to hospital with unbearable pain in her right side. Prior to this she had been back and forth to her GP for 12 months with numerous symptoms, back pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath and tiredness. She was told by her doctor on more than one occasion that it was just “wear and tear” because of the job she does and the tiredness was supposedly down to working nightshift.
After almost a day in A&E a consultant came to see her and was certain it was a pulled muscle but they would do a scan just to check. Another day went by and mum was in excruciating pain, it absolutely broke us seeing her in so much pain.
On the 13th February our whole world came crashing down when we were told our beautiful, amazing mum had Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer with liver and bone mets. The cancer has spread from her breast, into her lymph nodes, her spine and liver. The worst possible news anyone can ever receive.
Our beautiful mum, who has brought her 3 girls up on her own for 30 years, has terminal cancer. She is the best Nanny in the world, to 5 gorgeous grandchildren (soon to be 6) and absolutely adores them. I asked her in the hospital if she had any wishes, she said to watch her grandchildren grow up, see her girls get married and to own a bungalow with a lovely garden for Rosie (her springer spaniel) to run around in.
We don’t know how long mum has left and we are taking each day as it comes. She is the most selfless person you will ever meet and has helped people her whole life. Now we need to help her. The financial side of having cancer is the last thing you want to think about, unfortunately the reality for mum is she lives on her own on a single person income with no financial help. We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to help her financially and to help her live the rest of her life to the fullest. Who knows, should we have a miracle and mum is with us next year or the year after we might even be able to buy her the bungalow she has always dreamed of.
We are going through the most unimaginable pain and heartbreak any family could ever go through. If we can take the financial worry away and give mum a glimmer of hope and happiness in all of this then we would be so grateful. We are asking for people’s help, family, friends, strangers, anything you can afford to help support our beautiful mum.
She is truly one of a kind and irreplaceable.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our mum’s story x
