Fighting against Fentanyl

Tax deductible
November 2nd, 2019 I lost my brother and sister-in-law to an accidental drug overdose. Fentanyl was the killer. I had no idea they had been struggling with an Oxycontin addiction. They were successful, kind, charismatic...driven.  They were amazing parents. They were kind to strangers; they were kind to me. In fact, my brother was my best friend and business partner. We worked side by side for a decade. I have never met anyone like Michael; he had this amazing ability to make anything out of nothing. He was generous to a point it sometimes left him at a disadvantage. He worked hard, maybe too hard.

I believe the Oxycontin addiction begin as my brother began to struggle with compressed neck and back vertebrae, as well as stress. He attempted yoga, therapy and steroid shots but the pain never stayed away long. Eventually this lead him to acquire the pills from someone that was not a doctor and he, as well as Hannah, became a victim to the fentanyl epidemic. If you are not familiar with this epidemic, it is taking lives of the old and young with a terrifying speed.

In their memory, I want to do something to spread this message because sometimes the greatest gifts leave too early in our lives but with a message that needs to be heard. I want to help others fight the horror that is the cycle of addiction, in general, but specifically to opioids. I want to help people avoid the potential loss of a loved one.

Thus, I am working towards raising 25k for Shatterproof.

Shatterproof is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to reversing the addiction crisis in the United States.

I also want people to know I am committed to working towards this goal the best way I can...by moving my body. I commit to prepare for a half-marathon which I will run in honor of Michael and Hannah while further supporting Shatterproof as my chosen charity (raising more funds). This will be awhile due to COVID but it is my commitment to all those that take the time to donate. No donation is too small. Every dollar counts.

Many blessings to all.

Anna
