Weekly update: From Mel!

The recovery train has made its last stop before home! I transferred to Acute Rehab today. Lots of rehab and hard work ahead of me in preparation to be safe and able to care for myself at home. I will be pushing myself hard so I can get home to my babies and my husband, who I can’t praise enough! God has carried me and my family so far and I give Him all the glory!

*UPDATE*
Jacob turned 2 and had an awesome birthday party! Ainsley had her casts removed from her arms last week and is doing well. Melanie is in a long term acute care facility, and also celebrated a birthday surrounded by family. She’s on the road to recovery, but is scheduled for another surgery next week. This one was not expected, but necessary for rehabilitation and recovery to continue. Please continue to pray for Mel’s journey to recovery and surgeon’s precision. Please also pray for Jake and the babies who I’m quite sure miss having their mom at home, and the family friends stepping up in this difficult time.
Please keep sharing, at this point, it is unknown exactly how long recovery time will be. Prayers are felt, and generosity by so many can never be thanked enough, but thank you to everyone for the love, support, donations, and prayers thus far.

As many of you know, Melanie and the babies were in a head-on collision on May 22, 2019. Jacob is fine and has been released from the hospital and is back to his normal self. Ainsley is ok, she has numerous broken bones, but is expected to be released from the hospital on Saturday (May 25th). Last word was that she is in good spirits. 
   Melanie, however, remains in critical (but stable) condition. She also has numerous broken bones, among other serious injuries. Another surgery is scheduled for Saturday, May 25th. Anyone who knows Melanie, knows that she is a fighter and will fight for those babies and her family.  As of now, she has awakened once, briefly, but long enough for the nurse to let her know that the babies are ok. After that she seemed to relax. She also responded to hubby Jake’s voice, so we know she’s in there battling. 
   Many have asked how they can help since hospital visits are never cheap and ICU stints are astronomical. Our goal is take as much of the financial burden as we can off of Jake and his family. The trips to and from the hospital, lost wages, and medical expenses will add up quickly. The main focus needs to be on recovery, and it is going to be a long road ahead. Please consider donating to help make this happen. Any amount helps and is much appreciated. 
   
 We are also asking for prayers for the following;

Healing- both physical and emotional.

Wisdom and precision for the surgeons as they make decisions to achieve the best outcome. 

Comfort and strength for Jake, Ainsley, Jacob, and all family as they navigate a new routine. 

Pray for Melanie. She has an army of people who love her. She needs to see when she wakes up that we are all fighting with her/for her. 

   Please know that the outpouring of love has not gone unnoticed. It is felt and is more appreciated than words can describe. At this time, visitors are limited to immediate family, but when this changes there will be an update. Updates on condition will be provided as they come.
