We want to help – together with you!
YOUROPE, TAKE A STAND & MUSIC SAVES UKRAINE are raising funds for:
• The purchase of musical instruments
• The printing of modern music textbooks
• The reconstruction of music & arts schools
Every donation counts. Every contribution makes a difference for those who have lost so much. Together, we give hope and a future – through music, education, and solidarity.
We have set a target of 12,000€ that Music Saves Ukraine will distribute. We guarantee that the funds will be directed to schools with urgent needs - whether for purchasing musical instruments or covering repairs. The selected schools will be among those affected by the war and/or currently hosting internally displaced persons (IDPs).
We are committed to ensuring the support reaches where it’s needed most.
While the needs are diverse, they all serve a common mission: to keep music education alive for the next generation of Ukrainians. Even in the midst of conflict, access to music helps children heal, grow, and stay connected to their culture and identity.
This is not just humanitarian aid - it’s an investment in the cultural future of Ukraine. It only takes a few clicks!
(5,500€ have been reached already in an earlier stage of our initiative in 2024 financing medical devices for a rehab institute in Kyjiw. see update below.)
Context:
The war in Ukraine has now lasted more than three and a half years. Thousands of people have lost their homes – many even their lives. Cities are being destroyed, along with dreams. What remains, at best, is the hope for a better future.
Russia’s attacks target not only military facilities and infrastructure, but also deliberately strike civilian life – including cultural and educational institutions. Access to education and culture has been severely limited or even made impossible.
The consequences are dramatic:
• 172 art and music schools have been destroyed or damaged
• 119 art and music schools are located in occupied territories
• more than 45,000 children have no access to education
• 3,500 music and art teachers have lost their jobs
An entire generation is being left behind – children and young people growing up in the midst of war, fear, and uncertainty. We need to do something!
Background:
The day after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, YOUROPE (The European Festival Association) and its member festivals began supporting their Ukrainian colleagues. The joint framework for this support is TAKE A STAND – the social awareness initiative founded by YOUROPE in 2017.
For more than three and a half years, a close collaboration has existed with MUSIC SAVES UKRAINE (MSU) – the humanitarian aid initiative led by the YOUROPE member Atlas Festival in Kyiv. Music Saves Ukraine was founded by the Ukrainian Association of Music Events (UAME).
Together with supporters from across Europe, remarkable achievements have been made:
• Over €700,000 in donations for humanitarian aid and the reconstruction of cultural institutions
• Establishment of two logistics centers
• Distribution of more than 700 tons of relief supplies
• A refugee hub for those fleeing war zones
• Evacuation of over 20,000 people from contested regions
• Funding of medical equipment for the Kyiv Rehab Institute
