Pandemic funding for feeding our elderly and shut-in neighbors has dried up, but hundreds of Evanston families are still in need of hope, compassion and a warm healthy meal during these cold winter months. Jennifer's Edibles Restaurant needs your help to deliver on the promise of neighborly love!
We need your help now! Children home from school are struggling to access free lunch programs, while many senior citizens are teetering on the brink of malnutrition and hunger.
So many families, particularly African American households, have been overwhelmed by the illness, unemployment and emotional hardship COVID has left in its wake. With the help of institutions like Northwestern University, Evanston Community Foundation and caring individuals just like you, Jennifer's Edibles has provided nearly 40,000 meals since the start of this crisis.
However, after more than a month paying out-of-pocket to provide free meals for those facing food insecurity, we can no longer afford to provide this service without financial assistance from the community.
Today, nearly 300 families in Evanston are worried about where their next meal might come from. Jennifer's Edibles has prepared and sponsored thousands of meals, and more than 50 Evanston volunteers have answered the call to deliver those meals to families in need... now we need you to pitch in, step up and help out.
The money you contribute will help pay salaries for our cooks who desperately need these jobs to provide for their own families, as well as pay for free meals and delivery to families in need.
We know that you care, we just hope that you'll "demonstrate" that you care during this trying time. Thank you so very much!
