Family in Gaza Needing Urgent Funding to Evacuate

Hello and Salam everyone,

My name is Sana Gaballah and I am an undergraduate student from Columbia, MO. I am appealing to you with a sense of urgency to help evacuate a family from Gaza who has been separated from one another. The mother, Duaa, was able to evacuate with her youngest daughter Karma who is receiving treatment for a brain stroke she endured while in Gaza. However, the father, Zayed, is still in Rafah with his other two daughters struggling to survive from the constant risk of airstrikes and famine.

Evacuating Gaza is a heavy financial burden, so I urge you to consider helping this family in any way you can.

After slight improvement in her health, Karma has tragically contracted acute Leukemia and has began receiving chemotherapy. As a result, she may need a bone marrow transplant from her sisters at any moment. So, it has become even more imperative now that her sisters and father gather enough funds to evacuate Rafah.

This is the full story and testimony from Duaa Ibrahim:

My name is Duaa Ibrahim, a wife and a mother of three daughters, Karma who is 3 years old, Maria who is 5 years and Lamar who is 9 years. I'm reaching out to you during the most challenging time my family has ever faced. Our suffering began when the occupation bombed our neighbors in October. Our lives were turned upside down. I got injured and our house was destroyed. My youngest daughter fell on her head and hit it from behind. After two weeks, she developed a fever and lost a substantial amount of weight.

Her dad took her to the hospital to find her hemoglobin level at 5 and platelet level at 15 which is extremely low. They suspected that she has Leukemia or a brain stroke but there was no treatment in Gaza for her case during November so they transferred her abroad to be treated in the United Arab Emirates. My daughter was diagnosed with a brain stroke and Guillain Barre Syndrome, a condition where her immune system attacks her nerves. Her treatment may continue for a year.

Currently, I am in the UAE with my daughter who is receiving treatment but I left my husband back in Gaza in unimaginable danger. He left our home to Rafah to live with our two other daughters in a tent in bad weather. He survived death many times while going to search for food and bread. My daughters are suffering without basic necessities and without their mom. They are afraid and crying all the time asking about me. I also have problems with nerves and bones but couldn't receive treatment because I had to take care of my daughter. I need my husband to help me. My daughter always asks about her father and sisters. She desperately needs her father and sisters by her side and so do I. We can't be separated for a year.

As all of you surely know, there is no safe place in Gaza. I ask you to kindly help my husband and two daughters evacuate from Gaza. The only way for them to survive is to meet outside of Gaza. To do so, we need more than 10 thousands dollars to travel in a month and 7 thousand dollars per person to travel in a week as the price for airfare out of Gaza. We then need additional funds to book visas to the gulf where my daughter gets her treatment. This amount of money is literally unaffordable.

We humbly appeal to your compassion and generosity to help us raise the necessary funds for my family’s evacuation. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a tremendous difference in helping us meet together and regain stability in our lives.
