Erie Times News Old Newsies

The Erie Times-News Old Newsies have been collecting for the needy in Erie PA since 1937. Each year on the first Friday in December, the Newsies fan out all over Erie PA "selling"  that days Times-News and collecting donations for the fund. The one-day collection is not the only way people can donate to the needy, the Erie Times Newspaper collects donations from advertisements in the paper and now you can donate via our Go Fund Me Campaign. Originally the newsies were former newspaper boys but today it is made up of volunteers, both old newspaper persons and those interested in helping the needy. The goal of the Newsies is to raise funds to provide food for the needy around the December holidays. 100% of the funds collected are used toward food and the administrative costs are provided by the Erie Times-News Publishing Company. The Newsies have partnered with Erie's Second Harvest Food Bank to purchase food and distribute it to needy families. Help us make the 2019 Holiday season a time to serve our fellow citizens who may be experiencing a challenging time in their lives.
