Help The Erby-Greene Family Rebuild Their Legacy
We are the Erby-Greene family from Altadena, California, and this GFM Request has been written on our behalf by our niece and cousin, Mai Perkins:
Due to the catastrophic devastation of the Eaton Fire that destroyed the community of Altadena, the Erby-Greene family has lost their home of over fifty years.
When the Greenes, along with their children Traci and Darren, moved into their family home in February of 1973, they had no idea that 52 years later the unimaginable would happen as California wildfires—fueled by the ravaging Santa Ana winds—would destroy everything in its path. On Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, the reality set in that, in just a few short hours, every single item that their home life consisted of was gone…for good.
From the Erby-Greene family: While we will always hold close to our hearts the 52 years of raising our children and grandchildren, hosting family holidays and team dinners, the birthdays and anniversaries, plus the joys and pains of our journeys, we are deeply grateful to have narrowly escaped the Eaton fire with our lives and health. We are thankful to be safe and alive.
But our home and everything in it, much like the entire block (except for one house), was destroyed, reduced to ashes and rubble. And so, we realize that the first step in recovery is TO ASK for assistance from those that know and love us, and are in a position to help.
Our financial goal is more of a soft and adjustable target because it's just too early to know how we will begin to approach aspects of rebuilding what once was and what it will cost to do so. However, as we exhaust every state and federal resource that is available to us, and sort through the red tape of insurance and disaster relief, we are, also, now accepting contributions in our effort to get back on our feet. Whatever amount, in the way of a LOVE donation, that you choose to give will be deeply appreciated, and one hundred percent of the funds will go towards supporting our family's immediate need in this unimaginable challenging time.
Our love and prayers are extended to the entire Altadena community, and every neighborhood that has been affected by the California wildfires. We pray for grace, mercy, patience and generosity of human spirit for all of us in the coming days, weeks months, and undoubtedly, years of recovery.
With deep gratitude,
The Erby-Greene Family
