End violence & support free education in Nepal!

Donazione protetta
Hello! Rosie here, I'm in Nepal at the moment volunteering at one of the first ever non-violent schools in rural Nepal, built and led by Shamser Thapa.

In Nepal, corporal punishment, poor facilities, and financial barriers are the norm. So when Shamser became a teacher himself, his goal was to give children the opportunities, care, and dedicated learning environment that most Nepali students don't have.

Since 2015, Shamser has built 3 entire schools from the ground up - foundations to curriculum - and has completely overhauled an existing school, named New Marigold. This ongoing achievement is revolutionary, as students have access to free or very low-cost education, they are treated with care, and all are welcome, no matter caste, financial situation, or ability. Students are fed lunch at school with healthy food grown in the garden, vital for some students coming from struggling families.

These projects receive little government funding, everything else relying on volunteer assistance and NGO funding. Everything is donated, and friends and family in the community pitch in wherever they can to assist.

As a teacher myself, I am blown away by the determination, love, and resourcefulness Shamser has in achieving his goals to create safe and meaningful education for children. He is beloved in his village, and more globally, was recognised as a finalist in the 2019 Global Teacher Prize, and was asked to present at TED on his achievements and plans.
Since taking over New Marigold 10 months ago, the student population has grown from 30-150, with goals to increase the cohort above 1000 across the 4 schools.

It is an inspiration and an honour to work with someone like Shamser, and witness the tangible efforts and effects of his vision. If this story has touched you as it has me, please consider supporting this project.

If you are interested in volunteering or have more questions, please contact myself through usual means, and I can also link you to Shamser. We have created a donation guide for your reference
