In some of the poorest cities in Cambodia, much of the population lives on less than $2

per day. The solution? Many parents sell their daughter’s virginity to sex traffickers because having sex with a virgin commands a high price in Cambodia. According to UNICEF, 35% of Cambodia's 15,000 prostitutes are children under the age of 16.

In January 2023, 10 Eckerd College students in a Human Trafficking in Cambodia class,

will travel to Cambodia to learn and work with Non-Governmental Organizations to help prevent the trafficking of children. Additionally, we will teach English and math at a school where poor, rural students are at risk of being trafficked. Our goal is to gain a better understanding of the human trafficking industry there, how to prevent trafficking, and how Cambodian culture makes prevention difficult.

All agencies working against child trafficking require donations from concerned people

to survive. Our group seeks to contribute to the NGOs that will give their time educating us. Your donations will also raise awareness and make a difference in the fight against child sex trafficking in a very poor country.
