Empower Timor-Leste Youth: Support Needed

We are Jose Eliano Da Silva (Eliano), a third-year Economics and International Studies major from Timor-Leste, and Kim Anh Thy Nguyen (Amy), a junior Nursing student from Vietnam. We have been selected for the Peace Project 2025 grant, and our project focuses on youth empowerment in Timor-Leste.

A Little Info About Our Project

Our project aims to address the challenges faced by young people in Timor-Leste, particularly those from rural areas who struggle with limited access to education, employment, and leadership opportunities. By providing training in leadership, civic engagement, and social justice, we are equipping youth with the skills and confidence to become active changemakers in their communities.

Through this initiative, we will engage 40 students from 8 high schools across 8 municipalities in a transformative training camp, where they will learn from experts, activists, and community leaders about leadership, conflict resolution, gender equality, and sustainable development. Our goal is not only to empower them during the camp but to also support them in implementing community projects that will have a lasting impact.

Where the Money Goes:

While we have received initial funding through the Peace Project 2025 grant, we still need additional support to make this initiative truly impactful. Your contributions will help cover essential costs, including:

Funding will be used to help establish a youth organization for long-term impact. More importantly, additional funds will support the participants in extending their activities beyond the camp, allowing them to apply their knowledge, lead community initiatives, and even establish a youth organization dedicated to peace and development in Timor-Leste.
