EM&EM 2024 ARTISTIC FUND

Hey there!

If you're here, you probably know Ellaine Manuel and Emjay Mendez (EM&EM) as a dynamic pair of dance instructors from the Chicago Dance Community, and if you’ve gotten to experience their work, you know they care deeply about creating art that really speaks.

If you HAVEN’T, here are some insights from both of them on their own views of dance:

“Dance is the concept of accepting oneself. From insecurities and darkness to our strengths and light, this is where humans can find themselves. We grow through our battles, and there’s a journey in discovering what we are in parallel with having to endure to function healthily in society. Any performative art or sport is like that, dance is that for me. ”

“Dance is the junction where art and science converge. There is so much to learn from studies of the body and all its systems, and how movement has a strong physiological effect on them. Add the lens of art, then movement inspired by emotion elicits an even more profound impact on the entire human experience: physically, mentally, and spiritually.”

Together, Emjay and Ellaine have spent over 4 years collecting and combining their dance experience to build a comprehensive toolbox of their shared knowledge, refining it further to exchange with their community. From teaching dance to both children and adults, to hosting a uniquely curated training experience through [chamber], or directing performances created from soul-inspired concepts, hundreds of dancers throughout the nation have felt the lasting impact of their dedication to the craft.

In this upcoming year, they hope to take their creations to the next level of production. Your donation will help fund the following creative pursuits (with more to come!):

Specifically, the budget will consist of general production costs to hire others, rent space, lighting and/or camera equipment, and digital marketing tools to elevate their virtual training services.
