For my 33rd birthday, in lieu of gifts, I’m raising money for Westside Food Bank—a local organization that helps distribute nutritious food through 60+ partner agencies across Los Angeles.

Every $1 helps provide about 4 meals, so a $1,000 goal = roughly 4,000 meals for our neighbors in need.

Homelessness has always been a cause I care deeply about, and food insecurity and housing instability are closely linked. Too many people are forced to choose between paying rent and buying groceries. By ensuring access to healthy food, families can keep the lights on and a roof overhead. Put simply, addressing hunger is a proactive, compassionate, and far less costly way to reduce the risk of homelessness.

This feels especially urgent right now. In Los Angeles, cuts and uncertainty around food benefits like CalFresh/SNAP can quickly push more people to food banks, putting added strain on local support systems.
