Elih Needs Maternity Leave!

Hi! I've created this fundraiser on behalf of Elih & Peter Denton - and their little baby boy, who is due in WEEKS!

Before I go into all the details, the gist is that currently Elih will be getting paid $0 while taking maternity leave – not from her job, not from the state for disability, nada. This is putting a ton of stress onto their family, and the logistics of why this is the case are extremely frustrating to say the least.

Ideally Elih hopes to take 12 weeks maternity leave, and these funds will be used over those 3 months to pay for these essential things:

Absolutely anything you can give will help!!! We all know things have been extra challenging the past few years, and while I know Peter and Elih really do not want to ask anything of anybody, I'd say if there was a time for them to ask for some extra support & help - now is it.

The Long Story

As I'm sure many of you know, Elih & Peter landed in Portland, OR in 2020 after several moves across the states. Elih landed an amazing opportunity here, and they knew Portland was now home and where they wanted to stay and raise a family. Unfortunately, she's currently in a contract role in which she receives no benefits for maternity leave. Also unfortunately, the state family leave benefits require a certain amount of consecutive days work at an employer in order to receive maternity leave pay, which she just barely falls short of. On a personal note, Elih and Peter have worked sooo hard to get here – to good creative jobs, to a city they love, a home they love, to create a family to love.

Let's help them enter into this incredible new season of life as a family of three with excitement, and without so much stress. I know it is possible through this wonderful community :) Let's do it!!!!
