Please Help! My name is Carrie Dothage and this is my Service Dog, Violet Rae. She is an 8 year old Chihuahua who has been with me since she was a pup. She has a diagnosis of "MIL" (medial patella luxation) bilateral, which means both her knees are out. Her condition is graded 4-5 out of 6. This condition is common in smaller breeds (Chi's are pre-genetically disposed), and usually isn't quite as bad as hers is. It has deteriorated a lot the past year, and will continue to do so until she is orthopedically debilitated. I have not been able to have this repaired, as in WA state this surgery runs $4000 and up. And this amount does not include x-rays, anesthesia, blood work, etc. $4000 for the surgery only. I recently met someone on the facebook group Lost Dogs of Snohomish County Chat (of which I am an active member) who had this surgery done on her poodle for half this price in Idaho. Although Violet's problem is more severe, it will still be a lot less. We won't really know until the vet sees her in person. I have been in touch with these Vet's by phone. I will have to travel to Idaho to do this with a minumum 10 day stay. Please help me save my dog. If I cannot get this done for her, her quality of life will continue to deteriorate and she could injure herself further. She can barely walk at this point and her legs give out and she falls. I do not want to see her injure herself any further. I am asking for approx. $3000 to cover the surgery and the trip. This dog is my child and is otherwise fairly healthy. Please help me give her a chance. If you have any additional questions, feel free to message me. Receipts will be provided if requested. Anything helps. Thank You!!
