A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck this morning in San José del Palmar, Chocó Department, and its impact has spread across several departments in Colombia. Major building collapses have been reported in Manizales, Pereira, and Cali. Initial reports indicate 111 fatalities, more than 100 people missing, and at least 500 families left homeless.
This fundraiser is for the individuals and families affected by this disaster. Many of these families, including children, have lost their homes and, with them, access to basic necessities. Right now, they urgently need safe shelter, food, water, clothing, hygiene supplies, and medical support as they try to get through the immediate aftermath.
The funds raised will go directly toward building and stocking a temporary shelter designed to serve up to 50 families. This shelter will include a kitchen, food, water, and medical services to help people meet their most urgent needs. Support will also provide clothing, hygiene supplies, food and shelter for 25 families, along with tools to assist search and rescue teams working in the area. The kitchen will also prepare meals for rescue teams as they continue their efforts.
Time is critical. These funds are needed within the next 2 days so relief can reach families as quickly as possible. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help provide immediate support to people who have lost so much. If you are not able to give, sharing this fundraiser would also make a meaningful difference.
