Hi my name is Dylan and I’m two years old. I was diagnosed with BOR Syndrome when I was born.
This condition means I will need a reconstructive surgery for my right ear to help improve my hearing and speech development. Unfortunately, this surgery is not currently available in Ontario, Canada where I live but is available in California, USA.
I will be eligible for the surgery next year and it would mean so much to my parents to have this surgery done before I start school.
Since the surgery is done in the USA, my parents will have to pay the full price of the reconstruction and surgery which is 150,000.00
If you are able, please help my mom and dad raise the funds so I can get my new ear.

My husband and I were both eager to start a family after we got married and were over the moon filled with joy that our baby would be entering our lives.
I had a healthily and risk-free pregnancy and on September 19, 2018 my baby boy Dylan Jayce Mattai was born at 7lbs 14oz
We were overjoyed to have him in our lives but that joy quickly turned to panic and worry the moment the nurse handed him to me. My tears of happiness suddenly turned into pain and sadness. I could hold him only for a few moments before they took him away for tests.
They explained to me 1 in every 10,000 kids are born with a new mutation, and they don't know why it happens but it happens. Our Dylan had been born with BOR/BO Syndrome which affects his ear, neck and kidneys.
My beautiful baby boy was born with one ear. My husband and I were both terrified and our heart broke for our son but of course we love him unconditionally. Regardless of his ear he is our little baby boy.
We go to Sick Kids Hospital every year for a kidney ultrasound to make sure they continue to function normally. Thankfully, his kidneys are developing well and we couldn’t be more relieved.
As for his hearing, we’re told he has all the nerves to hear but without a constructed ear canal it will be muffled and can impact his speech and language development.
The surgery for ear reconstruction is unfortunately not available in Ontario, Canada. Currently there are no options for Dylan until he is 10 years old and even then, it is not the same procedure and would require multiple surgeries.
Waiting until he is 10 years old could have long-term effects including delaying his development, not to mention the potential for bullying and the loss of confidence he could endure. As someone who has experienced bullying as a child, I want nothing more than to protect my child.
The surgery he will be undergoing is located in California and is done by Dr. Tahiri and will cost $150,00.00
Up until this point my husband and I have been managing the cost of his care including paying for a BAHA hearing aid for him so he can receive the best quality of sound through his right eardrum, but for this surgery, we can't do it on our own.
I started this GoFundMe campaign to help with Dylan’s reconstructive ear surgery and give him the best chance at life. It would mean so much to us to receive some help from those who are able to give.
