We stand in unwavering solidarity with Dr. Bahira Abdul Salam, a beacon of resilience and justice in Canada. Dr Bahira Abdulsalam is an Egyptian Canadian structural engineer licensed in Ontario, a PhD holder from the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec, a researcher and former mayoral candidate for the city of Toronto, Dr. Abdul Salam has dedicated herself to noble causes, including advocating for Parental rights and reform of the education system in Toronto and in Canada through her elected position as a PIAC representative for Ward14 at TDSB , followed by her involvement in organizing the 1MillionMarch4Children. Dr Abdulsalam has always been a strong advocate for social justice and human rights and a strong advocate for Palestine through a grassroots movement Canadians4Palestine. However, her courageous stance against injustice has made her a target of Islamophobia, intimidation, and political hate campaigns.
Dr. Abdul Salam's steadfast commitment to her principles has earned her both admiration and condemnation. She has faced relentless attack campaigns on social media and in her personal life, all because of her unwavering advocacy for marginalized communities and her courageous stance on Palestine on her Twitter account. Yet, in the face of adversity, Dr. Abdul Salam has remained resolute, refusing to be silenced by fear or intimidation.
However, the toll of this relentless persecution is heavy. Legal actions threaten the revocation of her professional license, putting her career and livelihood in jeopardy. She struggles with suspended government entitlements, a revoked driving license, and job insecurity, all compounded by the financial strain of legal expenses and impending eviction hearings.
As a community, we cannot stand idly by while one of our own faces such injustice. It is our duty to rally around Dr. Abdul Salam, to offer our support and solidarity in her time of need. Your donations, no matter how small, will make a tangible difference in alleviating her immediate hardships and safeguarding her future.
Let us reject Islamophobia, intimidation, and hate in all its forms. Let us stand with Dr. Bahira Abdul Salam, a symbol of resilience and courage in the face of adversity. Together, we can uphold justice and create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
Your support and solidarity are deeply appreciated.
