Double Down - A Gambler's Tale (SHORT FILM)

Inspired by true events, Double Down is the story of Ali, a student struggling with money, his relationship and his crippling gambling addiction. Ali promises his girlfriend, Lea, that his next game will be his last and he must fight the temptation to play another round and double down on his chances.

Director's statement:

Emir Yener: This project for me is very personal. Although I finished the first draft of this screenplay end of last year, I have been writing it for many years in my head. The screenplay was based on a real-life event by one of my family members' own experiences. I am also thrilled to be surrounded by our crew, and I am more than grateful for having them all in this project.

Ibrahim K Muhammad: This project, for me, is a great opportunity to bring Emir's story to life. The suspense and thrills Ali faces throughout, as well as the pitfalls of his character, are the kind of films I love to watch and i'm excited to see how it all plays out from script to screen!

Cast

Food and transportation for the cast, as well as their wages.

 

Location

The film requires locations such as a casino, a car park and a bar. We'll also need to dress the set with props and provide costumes for the actors to wear.

 

Production and post-production

To provide the best quality possible, we will need to rent professional film equipment and transportation of the equipment to the locations. As well as this, edit facilities and software needed for any post-production touch ups will be needed.

 

Festivals

Should the film be a success, we hope to submit it to film festivals and in order to help it gain exposure we'll need money for submission fees. We are all really passionate about this project and want as many people as we can to see it!
