Dos Puentes After School Program
Doação protegida

Dos Puentes Elementary School builds from the philososphy that bilingualism, biliteracy, and multicultural learning are essential elements in achieving success in the 21st century. Dos Puentes is a Title One public school that serves all students, including emergent bilingual students with disabilities. The Washington Heights neighborhood in Northern Manhattan is home to the largest English Language Learner student population in the city. In its third year Dos Puentes serves 200 families many of whom are low income and first generation immigrants.
One of the many programs the school community is proud of is our free, high quality after school program. These programs are important in so many ways. Not only do they provide aftercare options for working families, they expose students to activities they may otherwise not be able to afford, such as chess, soccer, gardening, music, theatre and art. Many of these enrichment programs are bilingual as well.
We are in need of $15,000 to support the Dos Puentes after school program. This money will be used to keep the programs free for the students, buy supplies, and pay after school staff. If we cannot raise these funds the program is in jeopardy. If we begin to charge for these services many students will not be able to participate.
The Dos Puentes community would be so grateful for any donation that you can make. Please help us create a community where all students have access to enrichment programs regardless of their socio-economic conditions. If you cannot donate please share with your friends and family so that we can get this message out to as many people as possible.
