In the 25 years that Doreen was at the New Canaan YMCA, she was a caregiver, friend, role model, mentor, fill-in mother/grandmother to so many. From the minute you met Doreen, you were instantly part of her family and enjoyed all the benefits that came along with that.
Doreen was dedicated to the Y and truly loved her job. Rainbow Station was and always will be a special place because of her. Many children, families, and co-workers benefited greatly by her devotion and dedication. Doreen was a gentle person who not only nurtured children but their families as well.
The Doreen Dumont Scholarship Fund has been created at the New Canaan YMCA in Doreen's memory to help families who cannot afford Rainbow Station.
So we say to Doreen, thank you for your dedication to the program! And in the words of Doreen…love you to the moon and back.
