My name is Joel Wallace and I'm 32 years old from Brooklyn, NY. I am a seminary student studying youth ministry and a music teacher. I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2023, which required open-heart surgery this past April.

I'm still in the hospital in the ICU more than 6 months after the surgery. There were many complications, even one that nearly led to death.

Thankfully, I'm still here, but I haven't worked or attended grad school in almost 2 years because of my condition and can no longer sustain myself financially, including medical bills, school, credit cards, and my automobile.
