My name is Dana Wright. I am a bookseller of over thirty years, a dog mom, and a devoted wife. Now I am also a caregiver.

On the night before Father's Day, I had to call an ambulance for my husband, Edward. He was incoherent, and I could not lift him up. It was, in a word, terrifying. Little did I know the journey we would be undertaking.

The emergency room doctor found he had sepsis, a bladder infection, a kidney stone, and a mass in his colon. After much medication and a week in the hospital, the sepsis and infections were gone. He had surgery to remove the now 2 cm kidney stone and the mass has also been removed. It was over 5 lbs and larger than the surgeon's hand.

Unfortunately, the latest scans show the cancer is still there and has gone to stage 4. He will have a liver biopsy on September 8th. He will begin immunotherapy (smart drugs) and iron treatments on September 13th.

While we were on the road to remove the stint in his bladder last Friday, he lost his job due to budget cuts. He isn't giving up and he is ready to fight!
