We are Friends of Gateshead Town Centre, a volunteer-led group of local people who care deeply about our town and want to see it thrive.
Over the past year, we’ve been out litter picking, weeding, cleaning and removing graffiti to make the town centre feel safer, more welcoming and something we can all feel proud of. Much of this work is funded personally by volunteers, with occasional small contributions from the council.
Right now, we’re focusing on practical, visible improvements painting over graffiti, freshening up tired walls, and improving entrances for local businesses and charities like Rosa Bridal and Age UK Furniture Shop. Because many of these buildings are privately owned, council funding often isn’t available, so community donations make all the difference.
Every donation goes directly towards:
• Paint, brushes and supplies
• Graffiti removal and wall clean-ups
• Improving key gateways and high-footfall areas
• Supporting ongoing volunteer-led regeneration work
Even a small contribution helps us keep going. Thank you for supporting local people doing practical things to make Gateshead a better place
