Hey everyone, this is Amanda, Eric’s wife. How do I even start this? It’s tough to see a loved one in so much pain. Especially, when it happens so fast and out of no where. Eric went in for routine wisdom teeth extraction on 7/25/24. The oral surgeon had mentioned that one of his wisdom teeth was pushing against a molar that appeared to be loose and might have an infection. They left the molar and prescribed antibiotics. Eric was sent home to heal. The swelling and pain only got worse and eventually Eric went back in to his oral surgeon on 7/31/24, only to be referred to HCMC for immediate care. At this point, Eric could not eat, drink, take medication or even breathe. The operating team could not successfully intubate him for emergency surgery so they ended up doing a tracheotomy. The infection had created a dangerous, life threatening abscess in his neck and face. He is currently in recovery and there is no timeframe of when he will be home. During this time, we are still faced with incoming bills and unknown medical bills from multiple surgeries, tests, medication and hospital stay. Anything helps tremendously and as much as we hate to ask for help, if someone else was in our situation, we would help in a heartbeat. We love you all and will keep updates here.
