Dobbie the Dachshund’s Spinal Surgery & Recovery
Donation protected
Our 3-year-old mini dachshund, Dobbie, is loyal, fun, and mischievous, as well as an irreplaceable part of our family.
Dobbie has always had some back issues related to IVDD. However, on New Year’s Day 2025, it was different. Dobbie sustained an acute intervertebral disk extrusion (disc rupture) in two spinal disks, L3-4 and L4-5. Due to this, as well as severe bruising and inflammation at the site, Dobbie was unable to walk using his back legs.
We had to proceed with an emergency MRI and neurological/spinal surgery (hemilaminectomy) to decompress the spinal cord and hopefully restore Dobbie to a state of being pain-free and able to walk.
About a week after surgery, we can report Dobbie is resting and recovering excellently. He is in a pain-free state and is exemplifying his typical strong, fighter attitude in wanting to walk when we take him outside for potty breaks. We have a lot of gratitude to everyone involved in helping Dobbie have a positive outcome.
Unfortunately, this expense did not have insurance coverage, and we had to cover the entire emergency expenses on a credit card. Any donation received would go directly to Dobbie’s medical bills and recovery. Thank you for anything you can do to help <3.
