David Nickey medical bills
Dear friends and family,
As most of you know, David Leroy Nickey, my husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather or Papu as the kids called him, cousin, friend, fisherman, and chef, passed away on May 27, 2017, after being ill for many years.
With his illness came many years of treatments, travel to Richmond to see specialists, hospital stays, medications and mounting medical bills that insurance just does not cover.
David wished for his body to be used for research and his remains to be returned to us at a later date. At that time, we will be having a celebration of his life. For now, in lieu of flowers or other donations, I am asking that you donate to this GoFundMe account to assist in medical expenses.
David Leroy Nickey was born in Baltimore Md on June 12, 1951. He is survived by his wife Theresa of 31 years, and his sons and daughter in laws, Jason and Margarita Wakefield , Robert and Shannon Nickey, and Craig Nickey., and grandchildren Caitlin, Jaqueline, Corbin, Melanie Wakefield and Logan Nickey. He is also survived by Marlene Brecht, Jennie Lee Edwards, Mare and Dennis Kircher, Bubby and Diana Nickey, Douglas and Debbie Nickey, all of whom are loving and supportive brothers and sisters. Along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great niece's, great nephews, dear friends and fishing buds.
He served honorably in the Army in 1968 for a two years. David was a stay at home DAD before it was heard of, a floor refinisher, and a chef.
David loved family, camping and fishing of all kinds, and sitting at the beach near our home enjoying time with the guys and waiting for the big one to be reeled in. He also loved music, yard sale hunting, as well as other hunting (of which he had many tall tales).
The last 5 weeks, David was able to spend quality time with his family and friends and peacefully meet those who have passed before him. We know Moose and Dickie were waiting for him. His buddy Rick will miss him.
