On March 11, 2015, Darlene Long recieved the unfortunate diagnosis of extensive small cell lung cancer. The cancer has invaded the upper lobe of her left lung, the lymph nodes surrounding the bronchi of her left lung, and her liver. She is an amazing wife, mother, mamaw, sister, nana, daughter-in- law, and friend! She is 50 years old and very determined to beat this. She began her first chemotherapy treatment on March 12, that consisted of etoposide for 3 days and carboplatin for 1 day. She is also having to battle hyponatriemia (low sodium) and major anxiety attacks. Her body is unable to produce and maintain a normal sodium level. Her anxiety attacks causes her to loss her ability to control her ability to communicate. So with all of this being said medical bills are going to start coming in and our dad and her will need help to continue her chemotherapy treatments.
