Hello, I’m Victoria and I’m a mother to a beautiful and smart 6-year-old girl named Dakota. Dakota is the funniest, most warm-hearted child you will ever meet.
When Dakota was 1 year old, she was diagnosed with Complex Partial Seizures, Epilepsy. She was also diagnosed recently at 5 with autism. Dakota's diagnosis with epilepsy started hopeful. The doctors said she could go two years seizure-free and she could have switched to the diagnosis of childhood epilepsy. She could outgrow it!
As the years passed, however, we as a family became slightly discouraged. Dakota has not gone more than 6 months seizure-free. Her seizures have escalated from focal seizures to tonic clonic. The harsh reality is that any of these seizures could take my baby from me at any moment. Her most recent seizure was 4/16/2025 and was her first cluster seizure. This means she had multiple seizures back to back. These moments make you realize how precious time is with her.
I have contacted the Make-A-Wish foundation as Dakota has requested only one thing. Dakota wishes to go to the beach and see the ocean. I live in constant fear of how much time I might have with her, and I feel like a trip to the beach is something our friends and family and the help of our community can make happen. Even if you can’t donate, we appreciate all prayers, good vibes, good thoughts, kind words, and support.
