Cuts for a Cause: Fund Lapu Lapu Day Security

My name is Donna Fathi, I’m the owner of Studio D Hair Salon and a proud Director of the Sunset on Fraser BIA. I'm organizing Cuts for a Cause, a fundraising event where barbers and stylists from all across BC are coming together to raise funds in support of Filipino BC and next year’s Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver.

Lapu-Lapu Day is more than a celebration — it’s a moment of pride, culture, and unity for the Filipino community in BC. But to keep this annual festival going strong and safe, the organizers are required by the City of Vancouver to cover costly security expenses — including barricades, security patrols, dump trucks and more.

We want to help.

On June 8, 2025, we’re hosting a full-day community haircut fundraiser. Every participating artist is donating their time and skill, and 100% of proceeds will go directly toward helping Filipino BC pay for security measures to ensure that next year’s Lapu-Lapu Day is not only successful — but safe and protected for all who attend.

If you can’t make it to the event, you can still be part of the movement by donating here on GoFundMe. Every dollar raised helps lift the financial burden off the shoulders of the organizers and helps make sure the celebration of our culture continues — safely and joyfully.
