A Call For Help: Loss of Dillon’s Handicap Transport Van
Donation protected
I'm so sad to share that my son’s handicap van was totaled in an accident.
This van was essential for us to provide transportation to appts for extensive medical follow up care.
We are all heartbroken by this loss. We're now navigating the process of replacing the van, which has proven to be a significant challenge both emotionally and financially. Due to the size of Dillon’s wheelchair, he needs a rear-entry van. Rear entry vans are in limited supply and much more difficult to find.
Any support or advice on resources for handicap-accessible vehicles would be greatly appreciated.
Dillon was born with Cerebral Palsy and has faced multiple medical challenges throughout his life.
As part of his ongoing care, he is required to travel to Hollywood, Florida, every six weeks for Intrathecal Baclofem (IBT) refills at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. These refills are critical for controlling Sympathetic Storming, a serious complication related to his brain injury.
He also has to be transported to Joe DiMaggio Hospital for routine hip injections due to Hip Dysplasia.
Dillon has to be transported to St Petersburg for all Dental needs.
These trips are medically necessary and unavoidable due to the limited availability of pediatric specialists in our local area who are qualified to treat Dillon's complex and specialized needs.
This is an urgent need due to Dillon’s upcoming Doctor appointments.
