Corn Grandmothers Council Seed Distribution

Doação protegida
The story of the corn mother dream and ceremony continues. It's March 2024 and the harvest from the ceremony is in. The seeds are dried and we need to distribute the seeds to the Grandmothers and those who participated and supported the ceremony. The cost for mailing the seeds is about $6 and we need help to cover the shipping costs. If you can donate to help cover these costs please do. Oneewe (Giving Thanks). Unchatwa

I want to personally thank everyone who helped to bring the first Corn Mother Dream ceremony to fruition on May 18, 2023 at Schodack Island State Park. This new photo is of the center mound where we planted the first of 19 mounds of corn, beans and squash. We had about 50 people participate in the ceremony from as far away as Hawaii. There were 20 people who sent soil to stand for them in ceremony and we are sending them sacred seed bundles along with their soil to plant where they live. We had seven grandmothers from the Corn Grandmother Council in attendance and thanks to the generous donations made here we were able to cover thier travel expenses in full. The healing of intergenerational trauma has begun on so many levels for so many people.

Blessings to you all,

Unchatwa

In an effort to reach our goal, I am sending this update with a very special photo of the corn mother that was shared with me by one of my native brothers. I have found no better representation of the corn mother than this photo of her. It speaks volumes that my words cannot. As we approach the ceremony we will have a quorum of grandmothers in attendance. It is such a blessing to be supported in such a deep and loving way. The bond they are building together, with me and most importantly with the corn mother is undeniable and is effecting change even as we prepare. Oneewe, Unchatwa

It is my honor to introduce you to the women who have come forward to support Unchatwa's dream and vision. These are the women who we ask you to support with a donation so they may attend the upcoming Corn Mother ceremony.
In no particular order, I share their stories.
With deep gratitude for your support, Kate

Next up is our Elder of the Corn Grandmother Council, Adelhia who was instrumental in breathing life into the idea of the council.

Adelhia heard about the vision and plan for the ceremony and called Unchatwa to remind him that in the traditional times a Grandmothers Council would be behind bringing a vision to life with shared wisdom and prayers. She has been a most valuable member to the Council. Adelhia has chosen to represent herself with this beautiful dragon image.

"My name is Adelhia Tousey Jack. I am a member of the Stockbridge Munsee band of Mohican Indians. My journey has taken me many places in the work environment. I have been involved with the ICW (Indian Child Welfare Act) almost from the beginning in 1978.
I’ve also worked with Casa, which is a court-appointed person for the children within the system. Served my time so to speak with juvenile hall, drug & alcohol abuse, domestic & sexual abuse. The work & contact with various agencies & children while involved with education allowed me to move within many agencies to further my journey.

The passion of the journey was to bring as much healing as possible & how we can provide continued healing to/for all."

On October 30, 2019, Skamoon Ngok, Corn Mother, came to me in my no'onokwa'am, dream time, and this we'kaawãakan, ceremony, began. Corn Mother told me she has mbeethoon, the good medicine, to heal inter-generational trauma in all our relations. She told me she has been stalking me my entire life in preparation for the ceremony so that she may provide this good medicine. She told me the ceremony would begin at Schodack Island NY, the place of our people’s central council fire for millennia. Then the ceremony would be repeated at Stockbridge MA and then again at North Hampton MA. She showed me many intersections in my life where she interceded on my behalf and brought me good medicine since I was a little boy. Many dreams, teachings and allies have come forward since the dream including the Corn Grandmothers Council. Corn Mother made it clear that this ceremony must include the last seven generations and the next seven generations. It is through this ceremony and restoration of Mother Corn to her sacred place in the hearts and homes of the two legged that this healing will begin. It is my hope and belief that the healing of this ceremony will spread in a sacred spiral like a pebble in a pond surrounding our earth mother as our corn mother in a good way comes here with good medicine.

It is my hope that in the planting time of 2023 at Schodack Island this ceremony will continue. This gofundme.com page is setup to fundraise to cover travel costs for the grandmothers to be able to attend the Ceremonies."
