Help Christina Kick Cancer’s Ass …Again!

If you know Christina I know she will have inspired you and made you a better parent, therapist or human. For me she has done all three.

If you don’t know Christina you’re missing out- but I’ll fill you in so you can join us in helping this amazing human.

Christina has been a social worker for over twenty years. In that time she has helped countless families of children on the autism spectrum. She has a black belt, is a certified yoga teacher, owns and operates her own microschool focused on helping special needs students, adopts rescue animals and is a breast cancer survivor. I know- she doesn’t even sound real right?

She is also incredibly proud of her son who she raised into an amazing young man and who inspires so much of her commitment to helping those on the autism spectrum. Due in large part to her commitment to encouraging and supporting him, he has become a black belt, a guitar playing member of a band, a certified yoga teacher, and a successful college junior.

When Christina and I met we went into business together. Throughout that process I saw her tenacity, incredible work ethic, and passion for helping children and families.

Those qualities will serve her well as she gears up to fight cancer- again. And quite frankly, sometimes the fight is also with the medical insurance system. She will need all that determination and perseverance, and she will need us- her friends, her colleagues, her community.

Medical costs will be significant and will continue to accrue as she goes through the phases of treatment. She has ALREADY begun to receive bills related to the tests and consults she has completed so far, and ALREADY has begun to experience delays and denials in insurance authorizations for the surgery recommended by her doctor.

I set a fundraising goal that can truly have an impact, and one that I know we can make. It is my hope that this fundraiser will provide funds to pay for medical bills such as surgery, medications, and doctor copays.

I don’t naturally have Christina’s perseverance, I am not as disciplined in pursuing my goals. But this fundraiser is different. I am determined to raise every dollar I can for her. It’s what she deserves, it’s what any one of us would hope for if we were in her shoes, it’s a great way to mirror her giving nature, and if I’m honest with myself it’s more important than the other things I might spend my money on this holiday season.
