Hello everyone,
We are writing this for our mother, Cheryl Robinson. She is the mother of three girls and the grandmother to 4. She is well known in the community. She previously worked three jobs: one as a bus attendant on bus routes, after the route she would go to school and work as a paraprofessional helping the kids, and after work she would leave to work at Clairmount Cleaners. Many know her as Mrs. Robinson from Harvey Swanson- Brandon elementary school, we know her as our mom. She was always busy and working but always had time for her family and worked tirelessly to provide for her kids and grand-kids. This summer was the first summer where she was completely work free, she only had the school job. She had a fourth of July trip planned and trips to visit her daughter moving out of state.

She helped said daughter pack her things to get ready to move to FL. However, one day later, that same daughter was flying home to MI to see her mother in the Neurology Intensive Care Unit. She had a malformed artery (cerebral brain aneurysm) that ruptured causing bleeding in the brain (subarachnoid hemorrhage), and causing her to pass out in front of two of her grand-kids, one of which called 911 saving her life. She went from one hospital to another to have a neurosurgeon specialist put a blockage in to stop the artery from bleeding (coil) and 2 stents to hold nearby arteries open to give her brain blood flow (coiled the aneurysm and stents to 2 nearby vessels). Now she waits in the neuro ICU for 2 weeks. This is the time she is most at risk for strokes and heart attacks due to the blood irritating the brain. We have been lucky and very fortunate she is still awake, can talk and move everything, but she will be in the hospital for at least 3 weeks, 2 of those in the ICU, on the monitor, with daily head cat-scans, daily ultrasounds (transcranial dopplers), and daily visits by the neurosurgeon, cardiologist, and intensivist.

Now I am writing this long winded story to ask for help, something that is hard for us to do, but I know my mom and dad are worrying about the cost as she sits in the hospital day in and day out, trying to sleep though she is checked every hour for any change in her function. She must stay in the Neuro ICU to be monitored and we do not want her leaving too soon, but everyday in the ICU is thousands of dollars per day, not including the surgery, daily tests, and additional time to stay in the hospital after she has been cleared from the ICU standpoint. She will have weeks ahead of her of physical and emotional therapy, we all will. We are asking for anything that could help, cents to dollars, prayers to thoughts and as much hope that you can give. We are not out of the woods yet. We thank you for taking the time to read this long winded story and for anything you could give.

Sincerely,

The Robinsons
